dave...
Hi there,
I am planning to walk the complete GR10 (west to east) in June. Never
done anything like this before...anyone got any tips, advice, thoughts
that might be helpful. We are hoping to travel light i.e. no tent etc
but wondered if this was wise and how easy it is to find accomodation
along the route.

Nick \(Scots\)...
Is that the Pyrenees one ?

If so watch out for cattle polluted water sources and afternoon thunderstorms.

Nick \(Scots\)...
A lot of huts that are small and I'm not sure if they will be open that 'early' in the
season.

Boo...
My experience is that most of the huts will be manned from early to mid June,
most of the manned huts that aren't manned at any particular time of year have a
"winter room" that's still available. Worth taking a sleeping bag even if you
don't take a tent.

On the GR10 there is supposed to be accommodation available on every stage.

The Val d'Aran, just inside spain is nice. I was there for the TDF last summer and met
two french borthers who were doign teh GR10. They had spent the winter setting
up and hiding food and energy drink 'caches', high up.

Boo...
I didn't think the GR10 entered Spain ?

Nick \(Scots\)...
Was it the HRP then ?

The GR10 bits near Gavarnie looked excellent when I was there in 2005.
