Is there is an easy / free Mac app that would allow me to rotate a
short .avi through 90 degree please (assuming there isn't something in

This worked for me:

Hmmm, TBH I would use Slick transitions for iMovie:

But then you change the aspect ratio and/or resize the image

10.4.9 that would do it already etc).

I have a great solution for this. I use a BenQ monitor which can pivot
between landscape and portrait modes. I think it even works with PCs too.

LOL

We do actually have a rotatable monitor in the house (on the Wife's
PC) but I'm not sure that solution was *quite* what I was looking for.
;-)

As I mentioned elsewhere I have actually done what I want quickly,
easily and free on this PC, but, the output file needs re-compressing
(I don't know how to do that) and it doesn't seem to play in WMP /
Classic MP (or at least on this machine and it plays pretty well
everything else I've thrown at it). So I'd like to make sure it's in a
'common' format so is less likely to cause issues to anyone else I
send it to.

To be fair it does think it's playing the rotated output file (no
errors etc) just I get a black box with full sound. ;-(

Sorry, looking at that again I should have said 'free AND easy' (the
'/' being read as 'and/or' I guess rather what was in my head .. ) ;-(

The pro version of quicktime will do it (Don't know if you have quicktime
pro - I think it is $29, so not free).
There are a couple of iMovie plugins that do it, although it depends on the
format and size of the avi if it is a good choice.

David Kennedy...
Surely Windoze can do this easily...

Quicktime Pro will rotate many file formats.

You asked for 'easy / free' which isn't the same as easy and free. ;-)
