WALKING...........................................????????
RIDING.................................................???????

I refer to green fees only, this should be interesting.

warren montgomery...
Well, a season pass for my home course (A muni 18) is about $450. I figure
I play about 150 rounds, that's $3/round (18 holes) walking. I think a cart
would add $11/round.

Bobby Knight...
That's a helluva deal, depending on the course and it's condition and
upkeep. Can you play 6 days a week at that price?

Now If I were paying by the round I think the greens fee is about $22
walking $33 riding (Weekend rates, weekdays are $2 cheaper)

Public courses in the area vary all over the map, but $25-$35 walking is
probably a good figure for most.

warren montgomery...
Usually I can. Some days I have to get out real early (if they have a
shotgun event later) but I can basically play any day I don't have anything
else on. The course is a basic muni, not all that long, but with water in
play on 15/18 holes it's no pushover. As a muni they One 9 has a lot of
tightly packed parallel holes but the other spreads along the banks of a
river. As a muni they obviously aren't going to be as manicured as some,
but they mow the greens and tees every day, move the cups every day, and
power rake the bunkers every day, which is better than most publics in this
area manage. The town also has a 9 hole par 32 layout you can get unlimited
access to for something like another $75/year. We used to get the two
course pass, but over the years found we weren't playing the 9 holer more
than a few times a year, partly because it's popular with beginners and the
geriatric set and pace of play can be a problem (It's also surrounded by
houses making the threat of broken glass a constant worry, not something I
want to worry about while playing. Believe it or not there are complaints
about the price from some folks because there are lots of muni and
privately owned open-to-the public courses in this area that are comparably
priced, in some cases lower. Yes, we get winter and sometimes we have
tornados, but it's a good place to live if you like to play golf. (The most
recent issue of a weekly free paper devoted to Chicago area golf lamented
briefly having lost a course or two to housing development, but went on to
say we have something like 350 public tracks in the area.)

Steve Gavette...
I don't know what the "average" is, but winter rates in Phoenix area range
from $38 walking at the munis to $250 or more at the high end (Troon, TPC,
etc). Mid-Summer rates are $15 walking at the munis. Not sure the high end
as most are available at huge discounts. TPC is one of the highest at ~$80,
and they don't discount. But I've played midday at Grayhawk for $30 riding.

Draco...
The public course I play at,
Walking..............$38.00 f/18
Riding.................$58.00 F/18

The last course I played at was in Vegas and it was,
Walking.............$158.00 f/18
Riding................$168.00 f/18

The public course is nicer.

alan campbell...
I am a member at 2 clubs and have playing privileges at another so green
fees zero.

annika1980...
I'd say greens fees = (initiation + dues) / (# of rounds played)

Wanna do the math for us?

Matt...
Up in Rochester NY

Most courses are between 30-40 to ride and 20-30 to walk.

JMJizzle...
Most munis around here (SW MO) are $12-15 walking, another $10 to
ride. The higher-end semi-private and private courses are more like
$40. I'm sure there's some in the $100 range, but I haven't played
them.
