forty...
This year I'll be attending the 12 Hours of Sebring for the first time.

Emma...
Lucky you - enjoy yourself! :-)

Martin Schmidt...
BTW, MotorsTV will show the race.

Emma...
Yep, it's one of those races where we actually get to see more of it
than the US TV viewers!

Martin Schmidt...
First the Olympic medal ranking and now this. USWhat? ;-)

Phil Newnham...
Speaking of USA based races, is there a consolidated calendar of what's
on, sportscar wise? With a specific interest in the weekends of the 8th
and 15th April, and anything interesting happening in the northeast
corner (northeast of a line through Chicago and Washington DC, ideally).
Not that I'll probably be able to afford to attend, but just in case...

forty...
Due to various reasons (mostly climate) April is a little early in the
season for motorsport in the NE. Most tracks up here don't even open
until mid or late May.

Phil Newnham...
Oh well. I shall have to content myself with ordinary tourism then.

Would anyone here have some suggestions for a first-timer as far as
places to watch, things to bring, considerations once at the track,
parking, etc? I'd like to be able to enjoy as much of the race as
possible without having to worry about too many first-timer annoyances.

Depends on what you like. Something quiet? Avoid Greenpark. Want to party
all day and night? Go to Greenpark. :D

Look us up. We'll be in Greenpark.

As for most of your questions. Are you planning on spending more than one
day there? If so, you can park where you camp. There is plenty of food
available if you do not want to cook for yourself. As well, you can see the
track from almost anywhere. Turn 10 is a good place to be, slow right hand
turn with fencing close to the track. Paddock is open for close up viewing
of the crews working.

Anymore questions, just ask.

forty...
I'm only going to be there Saturday. I'd like to see the racing at a few
turns where passing is likely, and I'd also like to see the cars reach
their maximum speed. Would you know where one could get relatively close
to see the cars at top speed? Also, could you recommend a good spot to
be to get good photographs of the cars while they race?

beaner...
To see the cars at top speed, or at least coming up to speed, hang on the
straight up to T10. The final turn onto the front straight is pretty good
place but viewing can be a bit difficult. Also, a good place to go is
behind the paddock. But there really isn't a place to sit, so bring a chair
or cooler.

The turns are relatively sharp, so passing can be seen almost everywhere.
Turn 8 is a good place with plenty of run off at the end (they also have a
jumbotron there).

You've got 12 hours to see the place, the walk is relatively easy as well.
You'll be able to see the whole thing without issues.
