Have any current contributors tried "Super Squats"? Any advice?

You mean Strossen's book?

As a 28-year-old college student I mail-ordered the book. Still have
it. A 1990 third printing.

I know I didn't follow his recommendation on eating six meals a day
(three big meals and three snacks), but the 1 x 20 parallel squats and
the (minimum) two quarts of milk a day (more often a gallon) was
something I followed religiously.

Was working out at Fitness America in Lancaster, Pennsylvania while
attending Millersville University as an undergraduate. Squat rack, I
love you! I don't recall how much weight I gained (whatever it was, it
was NOT thirty pounds), but my strength and confidence increased from
the breathing squats. I was doing 185 x 20 then which translated to my
best squats to this date - 250 x 2 ATG reps, followed by an equally ATG
265 x 1. I might've been 170 lbs. at 6'1" then.

Should probably go back to that routine now as I'm older and fatter now
at 185 (with one of those Randall J. Strossen, Ph.D.'s big gulps of air
in me) and my best squat is a 205 x 1 ATG.

Crossfit recently featured this strength chart for various lifts:

Tom Anderson...
Interesting. One question, though - what's a 'press'? It's not a bench
press, since there's another table for that; do they mean something like a
military press?

ATP*...
That's what I assumed.

Costco is currently selling a variety pack of fresh, pre-marinated chicken
in freezer ready bags. Awesome grilled, though some flavors are a bit heavy
on the garlic for eating at work. The same packets are available
unflavored. Either type is a huge improvement over the big frozen bags.
The six packs of Costco's "Egg Starts", some cheese and low-fat ham are good
for a high protein, low cal breakfast. Leaves the house reeking, but by that
time, I'm on my way to work and the rest of the family has to deal with
it....

Curt James...
My freezer currently holds two big bags (4 oz servings, 12 servings per
bag) of "Great Value" microwaveable, boneless, skinless chicken breast
fillets courtesy of the local Wal-Mart.

McD's Asian Salad with grilled chicken is a fairly satisfying 300 calories-
less chicken than I would usually eat but a cut above the usual salad.

Upon your recommendation, I had one for lunch. Pretty good, although
the Newman's Own salad dressing was a little too sugary for my tastes.

ATP*...
They slather something sweet on the grilled chicken and that is usually
enough for me. The sesame/ginger Newman's salad dressing is pretty good, I
save it for salads at home.

KFC's Oven Roasted Twister Wrap is pretty nutritionally sound, too, if
you have them hold the pepper mayo. My problem is that I like mayo.

ATP*...
I'll have to check that out. I've been switching between the BK salad with
Lite Italian dressing and McDonald's- I used to eat a lot of steamed chicken
and broccoli but there's no portion control and I'm pretty sure sanitation
is not up to par in the local Chinese restaurants.

Curt James...
Have to give that a try.
