Nick Chirchirillo...
I have an external hard drive connected to my network that acts as a
storage server. It is always on and always connected to the network.
Is there a way that I can have my Mac OSX 10.4 automattically connect
to it? I find it very annoying and time consuming to have to
continuously do Finder > Go > Connect to Server.

Barry Margolin...
What I do is put an alias to the drive in the dock, and then click on
the dock icon to mount the drive.

What I am looking for is something similar to Windows' "Map Network
Drive" function in which Windows will always connect to a folder on the
network.

Tom Stiller...
You might start with 'man fstab' from a Terminal window. Better yet,
install 'ManOpen', available from VersionTracker.

I have a similar question. I can't use fstab, because I don't have
admin access to the Mac (it's my machine at work).

I tried putting the above alias in my login items, but that doesn't seem
to mount the drive.
