Maybe someone out there can help me...
I am trying to find a program that will convert OGM video files to
standard Mpeg video files so i can put them to DVD. Is there any
program out there that can do this for the Mac OS X platform?

Can you play video files on Mac ?
You can use a "screen capture" program to SAVE in Quick Time- that's
step !. Try-
Snapz X at
May still have a free trial period. I also use Snapz X to SAVE other
video files played in REAL, WINDOWS MEDIA and FLASH formats.
Hope Helps,

Tried that, apparently his site no longer carries the file for OS X

I can play them in Mplayer and VLC just fine. It's converting them to
DVD that is a pain. I tried Snapz Pro X and even at 10 to 15 frames per
inaequitas...

I think mplayer *might* allow you to transcode, look at the options in
the man page. You can also try ffmpegX, it's all I use for transcoding,
and although OGM is not listed on their page as one of the codecs you
can transcode from... they say what they have there is not everything.

second with no sound, the video quality was really choppy. I even tried
mencoder & visualhub, both without success.
Through all my hunting, i will try what is posted here. hopefully i can
get this all to work. I wish there is a simpler way to do all this, but
hey, we own macs. There is nothing simple about our machines.

If they will play in VLC, you can export them to a different format.
Click "Streaming/Export Wizard" in VLC's "File" menu.

The speed of the Mac determines how well Snapz X works. I can't get
full PAL resolution with my eMac 1G but can copy OK at half size. Try
playing at Half size and reduce "dotted size " to fit.
As suggested by other poster,
Thanks for posting as newer version avaialable. What options you use ?
Sorry, only trial and error and plenty of time may get you there !
I could never get
"Streaming/Export Wizard" in VLC's "File" menu.
to work. Some clues would be appreciated.

The answer is YOU NEVER USED THE UTILITY ! So, what would you know ?
So, go back to the "net nits" before they migrate from one tHrEAD to
this tHrEAD !
