Do any of you read books concurrently? If so, do you have any tips for how
to manage it???

In your case, I'd try to spread out the individual Canterbury Tales and the
chapters of Gulliver. The rest you can probably knock over in a few days each.

I am about to embark on 2 literature units for Uni and will need to read the
texts at the same time in order to keep on top of my work... I am the kind
of reader that if I like a book will generally read it within a few days (so
this might have to be my back up plan)... For those of you interested the
texts I have to read are:
Regeneration by Pat Barker
True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey
The One day of the year by Alan Seymour
Troilus and Cressida by Shakespeare
The Odyssey by Homer
Beowulf
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
Macbeth by Shakespeare
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift
Anyway this will explain why I may be missing a bit (however around essay
time when I am procrastinating I will be replying to everything ;)

Pre kids, I'd always be reading three or four books at once and I never had
any trouble - I just made sure I wasn't reading two similar type books at
onece because I'd keep wondering where the characters got to, then suddenly
realise they were off in another book. Now, I can generally manage two
books, but the same rule applies... different genres is ok, otherwise it's
too confusing. I'm doing a literature unit, too this semester and I am
attempting to read Heart of Darkness (b-o-r-i-n-g!). I have to watch Pulp
Fiction as well!

Joseph Conrad is boring.
I hated this, and Lord Jim in H/S bored me to tears too ... ick...

reading for study is so different from reading for fun! the pressure to
finish! and to GET IT as you go.
i'd be the one in class when they said ' what did you think of the end' ,
who would be yelling out 'noooooo dont tell me i havnet quite finished...."
i think i'd go one at a time wherever poss, but that is just me.
good luck kelly

Hi Kelly,
Good luck with the reading. I can usually manage to have 3 or 4 books on
the go at one time but not now. I'll swap books with you, at the moment I'm
trying to get my head around "Health in Australia: Sociological concepts and
issues" by C Grbich and an anatomy and physiology book.
